We welcome you to contribute in two meaningful ways:

2026 Call for proposals

1Submit a Presentation Proposal

We invite you to present your work or volunteer as a judge to help shape this year’s program. We are looking for proposals that turn vision into action by offering practical tools, strong communication strategies, community insights, and examples of what health literacy looks like in real practice.

Our 2026 conference theme, From Vision to Action: Advancing Health Literacy with People, Across Systems, will be reflected through three areas of focus:

Sessions that help individuals and communities better understand and use health information, including:

  • Plain language and inclusive communication
  • Co-created solutions and community partnerships
  • Technology tools that reduce barriers and improve access

Sessions that build skills, confidence, and capacity across roles and sectors, including:

  • Training and leadership development
  • Support for community health workers, frontline staff, students, and early career professionals
  • Practical skills participants can immediately apply in digital or in person settings to streamline their workflow

Sessions that focus on creating environments where health literacy can thrive, including:

  • Organizational practices that embed health literacy into policies, workflows, and decision-making
  • Models that simplify information, improve patient experience, or streamline communication
  • The impact of digital tools, AI, and data systems on health literacy work

Leveraging your professional experience as a judge can be instrumental in this process. Please consider joining our group of independent judges.

  • Submit a judge application.
  • Review entries impartially.
  • Recuse yourself from evaluating entries submitted by individuals with whom you have personal or professional relationships.
  • Refrain from submitting your own presentation proposals.
  • Judge assigned proposals between February 16 – February 27, 2026. Review 15–25 submissions during the assessment window (final number confirmed by February 12, 2026).

Judge Benefits

Volunteer judges play an essential role in shaping the conference program, and we want to recognize the time, care, and expertise you contribute. All confirmed judges will receive:

  • Certificate of Appreciation acknowledging your contribution to the 25th Annual Conference
  • IHA Branded Gift as a thank-you for your service

  • Recognition in Conference Materials

These benefits are designed to honor your commitment and highlight the important role judges play in elevating strong, practical, and equity-centered content for the health literacy community.
